WHY DANCE…because professional dancers who have been studying dance for many years bring an array of dance/movement that are helpful to those with Parkinson’s. BROOKLYN, October 23, 2015 – Dancing is shown to help people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) improve their ability to walk and enhances their quality of life, according to research published in the Journal of Neural Transmission. Study highlights:
- Participants experienced significant improvement in overall movement, particularly walking.
- Participants reported feeling better and empowered.
- Participants reported “feeling better,” experiencing a “sense of companionship,” finding that “general health has improved,” and “feeling less helpless.”
